    The Dog Days of Summer are here. I’ve found out through the years one must be adaptable to continuously catch fish all summer long. Some Walleye will stay shallow in wind swept prairie lakes. Time of day and weather conditions play a big factor in your success ratio. In deeper clear lakes where the weed line is down as far as 18 feet the day bite can be real tough at times. The new Double V Spinner Rig by JB Lures consists of two Ventilator blades which are uniquely entwined with a two clevis system. The blades run in the same direction but opposite of each other. Creates lots of turbulence and a vortex which varies from any other spinner on the market. This is for sure the right time of the year to give the Double V a try, comes in a single hook or three hook series. This Double V can be trolled at a high rate of speed and will trigger strikes in the warmer waters of summer.
    Also the Tadpole Spin becomes a lure which is under looked by many Walleye fishermen. Trolled or cast parallel to the weed line this little lure has fooled many Walleye. Also a great bait for casting later in the evening for Walleye. My favorite color is the Pearl-Black in either the 1/8 oz or the 1/4 oz. version. I use the Tadpole Spin as a seek and find lure for Crappie this time of the year as well. Usually on a lake I’m not familiar with, I’ll start with trolling the tadpole spin until I find some Crappie. By anchoring and casting to them the fishing can become fast and furious.
    Look for Sunfish and Crappie suspended also, this time of the year. Our best luck lately is with a 1/16 oz Rabbit Hair Jig. Color may vary from lake to lake, but the Pink Head with Yellow Rabbit Hair is my over all  favorite.
    Don’t forget about the Bass and Northern. They can give you lots of action this time of the year when some other species may be not as active during the daylight hours. Spinner Baits are a great way to go. Lots of fishermen cast them and that works real good, but remember Spinner Baits can be real efficiently trolled as well. The Pro-Lazer Series from JB Lures will be a good friend on the water the rest of this season.
    A meal of fresh fish is always a treat and good for you as well.
